about the collection
The coral bay collection will be made up of the most colourful pieces found over the entire journey. Coral Bay is home to the most pristine coral that the Great Barrier Reef simply cannot compare to. In just one day I swam with sharks, rays, turtles and had a pod of 30 dolphins chase the hull of our boat for an hour. The Coral Bay collection is meant to represent the bright colours of fish and coral seen nowhere else in the world.
This collection also uses plastic rope that is discarded by fisherman at sea. This rope doesn’t break down because it’s made of nylon and makes up about 50 percent of all ocean garbage. Pictured here is an example of colourful rope that litters the whole northern coast line of Australia because the fishing industry is abundant in WA. In an amazing and also saddening coincidence, the oldest piece of plastic I found on the entire journey washed up here. A Mars Bar wrapper dating back to 1996.
