about the collection
Crescent Head is a small surf town with one of the longest riding lefts in NSW. I spent a few weeks here exploring every beach and hidden cave that I could find. This collection contain necklaces and bracelets that use the smaller pieces of plastic that can’t be formed into solid pieces as seen in the other collections. A huge majority of what I pick up can’t be used as a single piece. This collection uses the most common colour of plastic which is white and blue to make up the perfect wave.
Crescent Head, as a place has an indescribable energy about it. Locals congregate at main beach and have a chat about the conditions. There’s a range of weird and wonderful crafts seen at this surf beach, but the most incredible parts of Crescent Head are the beaches tucked away in the national park. Dolphins regularly catch waves with surfers in these hidden gems. These beaches are pristine and the incredibly generous locals care for the land like nowhere else I’ve seen. I was only able to find a few tiny pieces of plastic on these beaches as I suspect the locals keep it that way, which is where the inspiration for this collection comes from.
